Four People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento – Unsanctioned Gathering Results in Shooting
On the evening of Saturday April 18, a large unauthorized party of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento turned violent when 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were attempting to removing people from the park.
The Incident
At approximately 6:30 PM, the SCSO received reports concerning subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at Howe Park. An additional caller indicated a possible altercation and individuals running from the park.
A sheriff's helicopter was deployed and surveyed the area from above but failed to identify any active disturbance.
Despite this, a large crowd had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized event. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set up around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave via loudspeaker announcements.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area — causing hundreds to flee in all directions at once.
Those Injured
Four gunshot victims — a woman and three men, here each in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and website assisted with triage at the park.
Scene Details
The incident occurred on the Cottage Way side of the park adjacent to the nearby Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was put under a brief lockdown. Extra shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found in the metal fence around the Home Depot — confirming a shooter who fired southward from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 Depot parking lot. Investigators and crime scene technicians processed the scene overnight.
Arrests and Detentions
Over scanner traffic, it was established that a suspect vehicle — identified as a Kia — was intercepted in Solano County with four read more people in custody. SCSO deputies were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Footage confirmed two separate shooters.
